Roasted Red Cabbage with Spicy Hoisin Honey Glaze

Red cabbage is one of those underrated fridge staples that lasts for weeks and works in so many meals. In this recipe, it’s roasted until tender and caramelised, then coated in a sweet, sticky glaze with a little heat and plenty of savoury flavour.

The result? Crispy edges, rich flavour and a delicious way to turn an everyday vegetable into something worth talking about.

Perfect as a side dish or centrepiece for your next dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 head red cabbage
  • 2 tbsp hoisin
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 2 tsp sriracha
  • Cilantro, for garnish
  • Chili Crisp, for serving

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 230°C.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together hoisin, fish sauce, honey and sriracha.
  3. Cut cabbage into 8 wedges (cutting thru stem to keep them intact) and arrange on a parchment lined sheet pan and brush each wedge liberally with hoisin mixture. Roast for 40-45 minutes or until cabbage is tender and slightly charred.
  4. Arrange wedges on a platter and drizzle chili crisp atop, with more in a bowl for serving. Finish with cilantro and serve immediately.
